Therapy with Shannon
You are valuable. People are deeply valuable. It is such a privilege, and sometimes a silent wonder, walking alongside clients as they increase their resilience and grow. Evidence based practise underpins my work and I aim to forge a professional, safe relationship with you. My approach is person-centred. I do bring both humour and warmth into the counselling space. So if you enjoy a bit of a giggle then my door is wide open – come on in. I will also work from a place of curiosity and authentic presence so if we need to throw down an anchor I will sit with you and seek to really see and hear you.
I have significant experience working with highly creative ‘sparky’ people, so if you feel wired a little differently please know you are welcome with me. Older folk I do have an interest in sharing with you too if you would do me that honour. You have a lot of stories to tell.
In the acting world the goal was often audience catharsis – which in simple terms is the process of release. In the psychology world I have stuck with the same premise – to create an environment where someone has the opportunity for strong emotional release that eases distress and directs to new insights. I endeavour to forge a therapeutic connection that fosters this movement and creates real change.
