Richard Otoba

Registered Psychologist

We come nearest to the great when we are great in humility. True humility is intelligent self-respect which keeps us from thinking too highly or too meanly of ourselves.

Therapy with Richard

My clients can expect a supportive and professional environment aimed at promoting their well-being and personal growth. My therapeutic style is based on a safe and non-judgmental space that allows clients to open up and explore their thoughts and feelings freely based on collaboratively establishing clear and achievable goals for therapy which provides direction and focus throughout the therapeutic process. The vital aspect of my therapy is for clients to feel understood, respected, and supported, enabling them to engage in the therapeutic process with confidence and openness.

I offer emotional support and validation to help clients cope with challenging emotions and life experiences and encourage clients to explore their thoughts, beliefs, and behaviours to gain insight into themselves and their relationships and gain a deeper understanding of the underlying issues contributing to their concerns.

I prioritise introducing coping strategies, communication skills, and problem-solving techniques to empower clients in managing life’s challenges effectively while promoting self-awareness and personal development, fostering positive changes that extend beyond the therapy room.

I work towards a smooth exit process when appropriate, ensuring that clients feel prepared for the end of therapy and provide options for follow-up sessions or additional support If needed.

I am a Christian Psychologist who can provide counselling within a faith-based framework.
