I am a holistic client centred therapist with a strong focus on compassion, connection and helping individuals be their best selves.

My therapeutic style can be described as client centred and collaborative with a focus on building a strong rapport and working with my clients towards achieving their individual. goals. I use an eclectic, evidence-based approach, comprising of cognitive-behavioural therapy, schema therapy, trauma focused therapy, EMDR, motivational interviewing, narrative therapy and stress management and self esteem building techniques. I work predominantly with clients aged 16 years and above and my areas of interest include trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression, alcohol and other drug addictions, self esteem and stress.

Kristy’s Qualifications & Experience

Kristy is a Senior Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years experience. She completed her undergraduate and Psychology Clinical Masters degree at the University of Newcastle, graduating in 2006. Whilst completing her fourth year honours, she was working for a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre for women and their children as a community outreach worker. She then moved into the health system, working as a Psychologist for the Alcohol and Other Drugs service. This involved the assessment and counselling treatment for individuals with alcohol and other drug issues and their families. She was also involved on setting up the Central Coast Cannabis Clinic.

Kristy completed her Masters thesis on “the retention of women in a long term drug and alcohol rehabilitation service “ and received two publications from this research. She has also volunteered on the Board of Management for a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre. Kristy then moved into private practice where she was working with a broad range of issues across varying age groups, including children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. She joined the READ Clinic in 2012 after doing research work with the University of Newcastle on a number of Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol projects for the previous 4 years. She has also had experience in both developing and facilitating group therapy.

Kristy is Medicare accredited and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society. She is also registered with associated EAP, Workcover and NDIS.

Registered practitioners at The READ Clinic are independent contractors who engage The READ Clinic to provide administrative support. All decisions regarding client treatment and care are the responsibility of the individual practitioners.
