Therapy with James

My priority in working with people is to demonstrate warmth, authenticity and a focus on the client. My philosophy and commitment is to treat clients as equals, as fellow human beings, recognising each person is the expert of their own experience.

My passion is to help each individual move towards and maximise their potential. In practice, I love to improve the way people live, work, and behave in all aspects of their lives that are meaningful to them. My goal is to ensure each client has the resources and skills to manage their mental health and wellbeing. I recognise that each person is different, with unique strengths and values. As such, my approach is to co-create personalised strategies for helping my clients be the person they want to be. I value efficiency and effectiveness and this is reflected in my approach to working with individuals to move towards thriving.

My approach draws from a wide variety of evidence-based modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Therapy, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), and Neuroscience-informed Practice. My approach draws from a variety of disciplines and focuses on the commonalities and interconnections between these approaches. My priority is to distil the essence of what works practically by focussing on practical tools that produce results.

I work in areas such anxiety, depression, stress, panic, relationship difficulties, motivation, ADHD to name a few, but am open to working in several other psychological areas. I am also equipped to work on performance enhancement in areas such as sport, business, music, and performing arts.

I am passionate about health and fitness and play basketball, in addition to spending time exercising at the gym and walking. I also love to watch the NBA (basketball) spending time with my dogs, exploring nature, and relaxing with friends and family.
