* Medicare Rebate

Currently the Medicare rebate is available for up to 20 psychology sessions per calendar year.

To access Medicare rebates for your psychology sessions you will need to visit your GP to obtain a referral letter and a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP).

Your initial referral and MHCP will cover you for the first 6 sessions with your therapist.

  • After your 6th session you will need to visit your GP again to get a second referral for an additional 4 sessions (bringing the total sessions to 10).
  • The current COVID Additional 10 scheme allows for an additional 10 sessions; these can be prescribed at your 6 session review with your GP, at your GP’s discretion.

The READ Clinic automatically processes the Medicare rebate at the end of each session and you should receive your rebate from Medicare within 24 hours.

Private Paying Clients

Fees for private clients are as per the schedule above. If you are a private-paying client, you do not need a referral to see a therapist.

There are practitioners at The READ Clinic who work with NDIS clients who are plan-managed or self-managed. Fees for NDIS clients vary, please check with the administration team when booking your first appointment for more information.
