Parenting Program

For children with ASD
 
This positive parenting program offers family support strategies designed to help parents of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This program gives them tools to improve their parenting skills and help to build a positive relationship with their child.
The group component consists of 4 sessions which focuses on teaching strategies, giving ample time for self-discovery, practice and reflection. This is followed by 3 individual sessions where the tailoring of Triple P strategies for your child is offered.
The program promotes self confidence in your parenting, supports network building and aims to help your children become more independent in their problem solving.
 
When does it start: Term 3 2012
How many sessions: 4 Group sessions and 4 individual 30 minute sessions.
What is the cost$60 per session
Are medicare rebates available: Depending on your referral, you may be eligible for $21.25 rebate for each group session for up to 10 sessions per year.
Do I need a referral: No. Any parent can join the program but a referral under the Better Access for Mental Health initiative may assist you in obtaining a rebate
Your Presenter: Peter Tryon, a registered psychologist at The READ Clinic, will be running the program. Peter is an accredited trainer with Triple P International and runs parenting programmes in both Sydney and the Central Coast. Peter is also a consultant for Triple P delivering training to mental health care workers, teachers and nurses in the UK, Canada, USA, NZ and Hong Kong.
